Morning
When we arrived, there was already heavy pedestrian traffic in both directions over the wall and the disgusting pile of sand, blocks and refuse that has replaced the old cement blocks (which, in comparison, were luxury!). Two Border Policemen were checking ID’s thoroughly, but behaved very politely. Unfortunately, they were later replaced by two very uncouthand bullying ones. One of them insisted on “educating” the natives by making them queue on their side of the wall and anyone “jumping” the queue was held back for at least about 5 minutes. Halfway up the road to the mosque, one of the concrete barriers had been shifted, leaving a gap which allowed slender people to slink through. Quite a lot of younger men and women passed through without being checked.
