Bethlehem, Friday , 28.9.2005, PMWatchers: Hadas B, Mor B.Once again Israel enters the holiday period and the Palestinians the closure period. We see the presence of reinforcements and many rolling checkpoints. Beit Jala15.45 – A rolling checkpoint. Al-Khadr A jeep with soldiers watching the settlers road and at the crossroads of the Gush two soldiers with pointed guns standing watching from a hill on the side of the road.DCO Ezyon 16.00 – Empty because of the closure. People do not come because in any case even if they get permits they will not be able to pass. A taxi driver told us that he had been told to return after the closure. At the DCO there is a sign that the police window is closed and will only be open again for “service” on Monday.Al-Khadr 16.30 – Routine but on the road before the turning is a police van stopping cars and giving out tickets. The soldiers say that they are straighter than a ruler and do not only stop Palestinians.Checkspoint 300 17.30 – Four detainees who have been waiting to be questioned more than 2 hours and one of them is handcuffed. The policeman said that the man had been caught in Jerusalem with a forged blue id and after a while he was taken by a jeep of the border police to Moriah where he would be kept. The other man was a journalist whose papers had been taken from him and they would not allow him to return to his home in Hebron before being questioned. His Israeli friend and we turned to various people and in the end we do not know who helped but the soldiers released him without being questioned.
