Jerusalem
Abu-Dis, Zeitim Passage, containerFriday, 3.03.06 AMWatching and reporting: Lia L., Efrat B., Mikhal Z., Melanie, an american guestWhere are the Hundred of palestinians going to pray at El Aksa? Not at the pishpash, not at the terminal ! the Hide- and-seek game between them and the army is even stronger. It looks like the prophecy of the BP a few weeks ago “Wait, when the wall will be closed, They will rotten behind it” is soon going to happen. Sad and frustrated Palestinians. A sad and frustrating shift. PishpashWhen we arrived around 09:00 no Jeep, no BP. Very few people crossing. We were told that around 06:00 till around 09:00 Border Police were there, sending everyone to the terminal. Because most of the elderly people, men and women selling their herbs enter Jerusalem without the precious “Tatsrih”, they probably didn’t dare to go to this frightening and unknow terminal. Zeitim PassageAt our arrival next to the terminal,a policeman shouted at us in a very rude manner, that we have to move immediately. We asked him why he is shouting at us ? The terminal was empty.-You don’t have the right to go in, It’s only for the Palestinians. (It seems that he is very concerned about the fate of the palestinians.-OK. But because it’s empty maybe you let us in and out, for the 3 women who want to see the miraculous israeli technology? No, that’s the law.! Here no “Shikul Daat” . But how is it that your “Menahalot” with whom we talked 2 months ago didn’t tell you? – We don’t have Menahalot, etc. etc. (some explanation about machsom watch).A very old man approached the first turnstile. A woman’s voice came out from the loud-speaker in hebrew: Do you have a “tatshih”? The old man dosn’t know Hebrew. He mimed her that he must enter. She opened. But of course he had no Tatshih and was send back. But first he had to go through all the turnstile. He was completely lost. We saw him later, with some women carrying babies trying to go to the west through fields and rocks. The policeman was Pakad Y. A.. The other ploiceman R. O..During our conversation with A. about the terminal he gave us the “new, old” explanation – it’s like Ben Gourion Terminal… So again we had to tell him the differences.Container.very few cars. Bored BP..Back to the Pishpash. This time a jeep and several BPs. Again people are send to the terminal. Again the same game.:people watching till the Jeep leaves and they are crossing “safely” hopefully without anymore troubles. We showed Efrat, Lia and Melanie how they are building a wall and separating the palestinian houses from the Blue ID cards houses. All our journey was done by transit : From the Pishpash to the terminal and container and back to the pishpash. six pounds each
