Abu-Dis,Sheikh Said, Sunday, 10.09.06 PM Observers: Liat D., Judy O., Sheikh Saed 4.00 p.m. About six B.P. sitting under the covered area. A man was carrying large amounts of materials from the village to a van parked on this side of the checkpoint to be taken to an upholsterer in Jerusalem. Only one or two people pa ssed through – blue I.D’s and green I.D’s with permits. The wire fence now runs along the road that accompanies the wall and continues all the way up and past the checkpoint. There is a small opening for people to pass. According to one of the locals this will be a checkpoint for “special cases”. The village is, for all intents and purposes, completely enclosed since the only “road” that leads out is almost impossible for cars. (But this has been reported many times before). Sawhre (upper) – about six soldiers manning this relatively new checkpoint. Two people passed while we were there. One man with green I.D. married to a woman living in Jerusalem passed through with a permit to visit her.Otherwise nothing. Two army jeeps drove noisily along the road presumably on their way to Sheikh Said and beyond.
