Maqam Sheikh Zaytoun

Maqam Sheikh Zaytoun.

This impressive maqam contains several halls. It is dated from the Mamluk period, about 800 years old. It needs restoration work to be preserved. It is caged inside firing zone 934. Archeological findings of the Byzantine period are scattered around in the area, amidst water holes and ancient trees. Entrance is through the Mevo Horon settlement or through a gate in the fence surrounding the Ofer army camp.
