Qalandiya and Ar-Ram, Wednesday 13 July, AMObservers: Litel Y, Rahel M (reporting)Ar-Ram6:45 a.m.Shortly after arriving, BP Magdi K approached us and explained that because of the attack yesterday, there was a complete closure. There was a DCO and a medical person present to make decisions concerning humanitarian and medical cases. He said that detainees would not be dealt with, that is, they would be sent immediately back without being checked. The line was longer than usual for cars, since all vehicles were carefully checked.Qalandiya7:15 a.m. There seemed to be a little less chaos at the southern entrance. Yet, there was traffic in all directions, including pedestrian. At the CP green ID’s were passing through as usual. Avi, a volunteer, explained after a few minutes that there was a total closure in all of Israel, except for Qalandiya. Now a woman, although dressed in a blue outfit, was apparently a Woman in Green. She had brought cake and water to the soldiers. She yelled at us with all her power without letup. At one point she said that she would like to lynch us. At times she seemed close to spitting at us or hitting us but did not do so. The elderly soldier Avi said to her that it was not appropriate to carry on there as she was doing. She talked back to him, and he just repeated that he was suggesting that she stop. And so she continued, saying that she wanted to leave, but would not do so until we left. Litel and I stayed for about an hour because we didn’t want to give her the impression that she was making us leave. The soldiers were handing out flyers in Arabic that the Palestinians took and read carefully. The content was that the yesterday’s attack did not help the Palestinians. I asked one man what he thought of it, and his answer was, “I have no opinion.” It was a very difficult morning.
