Abu-Dis, The Container Wednesday, 29/3/06 AM reporting: Hava H and Rahel M,Abu-Dis – 07:00-09:00A constant flow of people through the opening in the old gate. Two BP check each person carefully. Seven detainees stand to the side. A BP is taking them one by one, explaining the form that they must sign before returning back where they came from. We walk through the gate to take a transit to the Container. There we see about 25 men apparently waiting for the BP to leave. In the garden of the monestery there is a road (!) that breaks down walls and destroys the garden in it’s wake. A BP jeep passes through. We also notice in some of the large old olive trees places where branches have been just broken off. We also see several new olive trees planted. The ContainerTraffic is moving very slowly through the BP. Three taxis and one busload of people are waiting for their ID’s to be checked. One group waited 10 minutes, another 30 minutes. Some cars and transits seem to go through without any checking if the parking area is full. The checking is so slow that there is a double line waiting to pass from Bethlehem to Abu-Dis. We call Hana B to ask whom to alert about this. She says she will make the call. In five minutes there is no line!
