Abu-Dis, Container Monday, 3.4.06 AMAnat T, Maya B (reporting), Ofra – visitor to CPAbu-Dis 6:45, we drive to Abu Dis, and try to see what happens at the hotel which the B.P. took over. The place is in shambles, and we are not allowed to go beyond a new iron gate, which leads to the settlers houses. We check the construction of the new wall within the residences, and see people trying to climb over what exists at the moment.The pishpash wall has been moved, how come?? it is now incorporates the entry into the monastery, where there is a B.P. man who stops anyone trying to get by. At the pishpash two B.P. are checking I.Ds. and medical papers, and only allow blue IDs and sick people with permits go through. A few old women with cheese and greens , on their way to the market are stopped. We try to intervene on their behalf. We call E. from the DCO, but do not make progress. Our “salvation” comes from a B.P. officer, A., who comes to the old ladies rescue, and helps us see them through.After an hour and a half there we drive to the Zeitim CP, only to see it dead.The Container : We drive to the Container, it is 8:45. no people – only buses and taxies going by. There is a lot of traffic. A taxi that tries to go through the short way to Ramalla, is stopped and “punished” or given a lesson. All the passengers are asked to get out, their IDs checked a second time, and they are made to wait a while. They will learn!! not to try shortcuts.We finished at 9:45.
