Bethlehem area, Friday morning, August 11,2006Observers: Efrat B., Ronit S.Checkpoint 300: Complete closure in the territories. One of the officers explained to us that the only ones allowed passage are humanitarian cases, workers of international organizations, workers of the tourism industry and workers of religious affairs. In the 20 minutes that we were there only one person passed through. One of the drivers of the minibuses (those that belong to the Jerusalem municipality) complained that along Hebron Road they are often stopped by Border Policemen. They ask everyone to get off, check their papers, and then tell people who have just passed through Checkpoint 300 that they are “illegal and must return to Bethlehem”. He added that if the people insist to call the policemen’s commander, he usually knows better and allows them to continue on.Ezyon DCL: Empty.El-Nashash: Unmanned. Beit Jala checkpoint: Unmanned.
