Abu Dis
Abu-Dis Wednesday, March 22 2006 AMDrora P, Rina R (reporter). Yoske M (helper)Abu Dis- A new checkpoint was erected (gate) next to the hotel that was taken over by the army. Only people with entry permits are allowed to cross. In Pishpash – people cross via an opening in the wall that was moved further into the Palestinian territory, which makes it physically easier. When we were there, there were no soldiers and then when they came, they didn’t check carefully.Zeitim CP – Next to the crossing, at the upper traffic circle, we found 3 Palestinian youths who were waiting for at least two hours since their documents were taken. We called Ophir and the issue was put in order in a few minutes. The documents were found with the soldier at the gate and “were checked” for such a long time. We also waited in order to enter but at the end we did not get permission to visit the crossing. We didn’t see any Palestinians crossing and one of the Border Police told us that very few people arrived, since it is not convenient to get to a crossing that is so far away, when it is possible to cross via an opening in the wall. The container -Meticulous checking, but there was not a long queue when we arrived (8:15) Ma’ale Adumim DCO -There was a small number of Palestinians (4-5) and they all received permits and their magnetic cards without problems.
