Jubara 9.2.04 Morning shift . Participants: Tami F, Herzlia E, Yael S, Neomi L. The children’s gate at Jubara: Flowing passage of school children. Obliging reservists. The teacher is asked too show her documents, then crosses over with the children. The gate then closes. The Tulkarem CheckPoint: A flowing two-way movement of persons. A soldier behaves aggressively, especially to the men, sending them to the end of the queue, bidding them to stand in line, showing them who is the boss. Our appeal to the officer to calm the soldier down a little meets with a positive response, although we did not stay to see the actual results. The Tulkarem back-to-back checkpoint: A long line of trucks standing from 6 a.m. causes a certain nervousness amongst the drivers. Apparently the generator that operates the “magnometer” is out of order. Three buses with families visiting relatives in the Megiddo jail occupy all the soldiers and thus trucks are dealt with one by one. The trucks will be dealt with after all bus passengers are checked. Because of the hitch in the magnometer, no provisions have been allowed into Israel for the past two days. Some of the drivers have come already twice and returned empty handed. The officer in charge says he will only operate the checkpoint fully when the instrument is repaired- we do not know what time, what day what month. Neomi L.
