Bethlehem Nov. 16, 2004 AMObservers: Soly P. Netta A. (reporting)Bethlehem CP 300 – Very few people and very few carscross the CP.We talk to T., the unit commander about our positionat the CP, and he promised to assign us a better placeto watch the traffic at close quarters. He seemed tounderstand our concern. Time will tell.El Hadr -Busy traffic of vehicles and pedestrians. No armypresent. The dirt mound, which is now higher, is boundto cause problems for pedestrians as soon as the rainsstart. Why does it have to be so high?DCO EtzionNot many petitioners. The “attrition campaign” seemsto work. However, people noted one improvement: if youhave no problem getting a magnetic card, you can getit on the spot, no need to come again. Still, manypeople are turned down without sufficient explanation. We were unable to help. DCO personnel were busy andthe commander could not answer our questions. Thereare obviously more important things than Palestiniansclamoring for magnetic cards and work permits. We left the DCO frustrated, as usual.
