Bethlehem, El Khader, EzyonSunday March 19 AMObservers: Sylvia P, Chana A (reporting) and a guest, Germana 6:45 Bethlehem: Even though there is a closure (still), there seems to be a lot of commotion. Reason: this is a Christian holiday, the Day of the Annunciation (the Angel Gabriel tells Maria that she is carrying the son of God in her womb). The place to be on this day is Nazareth. 1500 Christians from the area have applied for entry permits for today, 750 were given. Many people cross the CP, many of those young people, with a priest, also a young man. The priest tells us that people from Beth Jalla and Bethlehem were not allowed to enter Israel. Collective punishment for what? One man approaches us and asks if we can help his wife, a GSS refused person, to get an entry permit to accompany their 12-year old son, who has undergone a liver transplant, to check-ups to Hadassa. We promised to try, but were discouraged by one of our own women who tells us the permits are so scarce, that if there is one person in the family who can go with the patient (in this case the father), that’s lucky enough.7:30 El Khader: many petitioners approach us and we work for two hours at their requests9:45 Ezyon: A few people waiting there at the gate. Still no Bazel machines operating at the DCL and the place is deserted.
