Bethlehem, Ezyon DCO, El Nashash, Wednesday, 7.6.06 AMObservers: Drora P., Rachel M. (reporting).Driver: Yoskeh M.07.00 – Bethlehem CP 300The area is full of people coming from Rachel’s Passage (CP 300). Lots of people are flowing out of the terminal. In the terminal itself there are 3 active check posts. People say conditions are better then last week. There is no “pressure” like before. One man approached and told us that he was refused a Magnetic Card. We explained how to fill the application, what to obtain a photo of and what to fax to us.07.45 – Ezyon DCO At 08.05 while lots of people waiting, 2 soldiers arrived and distributed numbers to 50 people. One of the Palestinians read out the names of those whose got the numbers. People are quiet and patient. The soldiers behave politely and respectfully. One of the women asked for a number for a man who was not there. All laughed and the request was denied. A man, 43 Y.O., with an American Passport came here 6 months ago. He wants to be able to move freely into Israel and back into the occupied territories but was refused by the Israeli authorities. 09.00 – El Nashash (El Khadr south)Lots of taxis are here. Seems that all the stalls from El Khader moved here. Almost no business done here because of the small number of people passing. One of the stand owners told us they all have problem with the cooking gas. They are not allowed to enter Israel and buy gas and there is no gas in the territories. They have enough gas for maybe 20 days.
