Bethlehem and Surroundings, Thursday, 7.21.2005, AfternoonObservers: Shlomit S., Yael S. (reporting)The telephone lines in Beit-El have fallen! No MOKED (Center for Human Rights), no one to turn to.Bethlehem C.P. 300: Six detainees in the shed. The B.P. tells us that these are criminal cases, and asks that we not intervene this time. We honored his request. Another 20 detainees were under the tree, on the other side of the C.P.; we cannot approach. After trial and error, we got the cell phone number of a man from the DCO, who listened to our questions. We didn’t even stay to see what happened to all the detainees, since the terms of detainment seemed reasonable – the detainees sat under a tree, received water, and it seemed as if they were starting to be released. Ezyon DCO: Two men waited for the GSS. Shlomit called Motti so he would try and speed up their acceptance; Two people left without a magnetic card because they are GSS restricted, and they were referred to Piras Alami, from “ha-Aguda”. Two left with a magnetic card that was granted very quickly today. Two merchants received a permit for their vehicle, but one of them complained that despite the permit, he was not allowed to pass on Saturday in Wadi-Nar. After speaking with lieutenant colonel Ilan Dayan and with DCO spokesman it appeared that the restriction was temporary, because of the terror attack, and apparently, the passage through Wadi-Nar for permit holders, stands. (There are changes in Wadi-Nar, and we should look into it to see if there are improvements). Beit Omar: The entrance to the village is open, the fruit is ripe on the trees, and there is a Maluchia. After the Maluchia, we were hot and we returned to Jerusalem
