Falamya north and south

Falamya north 914.  The gate opened at 05:50.  We arrived at 06:05 because of roadworks along the way.  The gates were open only narrowly and people crowded into the crossing (which in any case opened wider later for tractors).  Inspection proceeded slowly, as usual.

We were told something important:  The DCL hasn’t issued permits for the past month.  People whose permits expired can’t access their fields and crops (grapes, vegetables, etc.) are spoiling.  One man told us that wild boars are destroying the vegetables.  One farmer brought netting to protect his field.

Women who arrived were allowed to go to the head of the line.

Thirteen tractors and one car went through.

Falamya south 935 –  The soldiers arrived at 06:45.  Again we heard complaints that new permits haven’t been issued recently.  There were also complaints that the gates open for too brief a period and people don’t always manage to arrive in time.  Another complaint is that they’re unable to switch from one gate to the other if necessary.

Ten tractors and one car went through.

On our way back we saw a military jeep parked at the exit from ‘Azzun.
