(reporting-)Natanya translating Nothing special to report.Both traffic going to Nablus and exiting is sparse, probably as a result of the disengagement and the murders at Shilo. The Palestinians are sent to the road passing Zeita. The Druze captain explains that this is a military exercise to do with the disengagement. They will have to use this road so as to enable the army to keep a watch on the movements of the settlers on Road 5.7.05 Za’arta crossroads: 20 cars in line passing with hardly any checking about 50 seconds to a car. No pedestrians.7:25 Hawarra CP: About 35 pedestrians passing swiftly and the soldiers are polite and to the point. Cars also pass through swiftly to Nablus. 4 cars leaving Nablus , amongst them 2 taxiss loaded with goods and being carefully checked in two lanes and this takes 20 minutes.One detaine who claims that he is stopped each day. I. the commander says that his ID is being checked.7:55 – 5 additional cars and a bus which is checked for about 20 minutes. I. goes to release the detainee but will not opent the gage of the checkpoint for him but tells him to jump over the fence Zvia asks him why he does so and he answers” Because that is what I want and you can write that I am a bad commander.” The man takes a bit of time and I. shouts at him that “I detained you and now you are detaining yourself. A woman soldiers reprimands I. and opens the gate for the man. Afterwards I. explains to Elian that the fellow is detained each day because he is “suspicious” and when freed he curses the “good” soldiers. I. evidently cannot control himself and does just as he pleases. 8.20- The X-ray device arrives and also the dog trainers. The checking period shortens to 10 minutes.9:00 Beit Furik: Only 5 soldiers, 4 machsomwatch women and one Palestinian, the cleaner. 2 Palestinians going into Nablus have their ID’s checked because the commander explains to us that he does not want to put his soldiers at risk . Another 5 going in are not checked. A truck goes through and a young lad of 15 is told he has to pass the checkpoint on foot which he does. Why? Just to abuse.9.55 Git junction: A checkpoint with all the gear , stones , “thorns” and a many captains preparing a permanent crossroad for the evacuation of Sanur and Chomesh.The secret service is checking the ID’s of Palestinians in a taxi which goes on its way in about 15 minutes.
