Hebron stories

Today, all the streets of Hebron were amassed with soldiers who had come to learn about the  “area”. That’s how Givati teaches  the paratroopers. The soldiers learn about  the Policeman’s checkpoint.

The summer vacation began today, and there were already clashes between the Palestinian children and the children of the settlers. The soldiers separate them. The Palestinians are not going to complain because the police are “drying them up”, letting them wait for hours just to file a complaint. And they are angry because if a settler has a knife he is not immediately shot at… The treatment is not equal.

In the photo: Name of the post next to the stairs to the Cordoba school. They held us there for fifteen minutes.

When we arrived at al-Falaya school, three officers were about to enter the school with two Palestinians. It seemed suspicious to us, but there was no way to find out.

The occupation works with all its might.

    • According to Wye Plantation Accords (1997), Hebron is divided in two: H1 is under Palestinian Authority control, H2 is under Israeli control. In Hebron there are 170,000 Palestinian citizens, 60,000 of them in H2. Between the two areas are permanent checkpoints, manned at all hours, preventing Palestinian movement between them and controlling passage of permit holders such as teachers and schoolchildren. Some 800 Jews live in Avraham Avinu Quarter and Tel Rumeida, on Givat HaAvot and in the wholesale market.

      Checkpoints observed in H2:

      1. Bet Hameriva CP- manned with a pillbox
