Ar-Ram/Qalandiya, Sunday 6/11/05 AMWatchers: Yeshu (Driver), Illit R (Reporting)6.45 am – AnataNormal early morning traffic. Some school children arrive and workers. All IDs and bags are checked but everything is flowing. No detainees. Car traffic flowsNo change in the overall site, still a garbage dump.7.00 – Ar-RamSchool children start arriving. All bags are checked. IDs of all men who pass are written down and a line is formed. No detainees. Car traffic mostly transits. As we leave, at 7.20 AM, we see more children on the road on the way to the checkpoint.7.30 am – QalandiyaStill traffic jam, still a construction site. Foot traffic is brisk and moving. On the way in, a long line is formed with men with other than blue IDs. No detainees. We see one man who is sent back.We don’t see much traffic on the other side and we don’t cross the checkpoint. On the way back we discover a new generous parking lot on the West side of the Wall, the road on that side seems newly paved and in a very good shape (relatively to the East side of the Wall). All in all it seems that life is back to “normal” at all sites, as compared to last week.
