including Anata
Ar-Ram, Qalandiya, Anata Wed. 24.08.05 a.m.Observers: Yehudit E, Nuri N (reporting)6:50 Ar-RamThere are not a lot of people crossing. There is a closure. There is a relatively long line of buses. One boy told us that there is a bus that has been waiting since 6:00 and that the border police are holding up from letting it cross. After a few minutes, there was faster movement of buses and cars in general. (The boy said that that is because the border police saw us.)p7:15 QalandiyaNo special instances. We tried again, without success, to understand how the new border crossing will work. 7:45 Anata. Very few people crossing. At that moment, the border police were carrying out an exercise and people were circumventing the checkpoint from above. Suddenly, one of the soldiers burst toward us and and went looking for someone around a bus. It turns out that he saw an old woman there with a large tray on her head and he decided to go after her because “she annoyed him”. Fortunately for her, she managed to get on the bus that was leaving the area and the disappointed border policeman returned to the checkpoint.
