About 20 youngsters waited in the village a distance from the checkpoint. Occasionally one of the youngsters would break away from the group and get closer to the checkpoint, stop, lift up his shirt, expose his torso, and walk around “like a model”, get a sign from the soldier, and approach in order to be checked or for a permit. Since there is a closure, only residents with Israeli identity cards or residents with the proper permit, are allowed to cross. We noticed that the number of soldiers was relatively big, many of them “new” and very active. A few of the soldiers look around: suddenly they see a figure that tried to get away and they run after him. Later two of the soldiers take a gun with an apparatus to shoot smoke bombs and entered the village on a patrol.A-Sheikh Street in Abu-Dis: 07:30 – The lower doorway ended in a built wall.
