Sheikh Saed, Abu-Dis Tuesday, 18.07.2006, PM Observers: Rina H, Julia W., Chana G, Rahel W (reporting) guest Sheikh SaedArrived around 3 o’clock. There were 12 detainees. The borderpolice told us that they had tried to circumvent the checkpoint. They were all released within 20 minutes of our arrival, though none were allowed through to the Jerusalem side. The BPs were very proper and courteous toward us, but would not allow us through to Sheikh Saed. We tried to call P., but he was in a meeting and the BP on patrol said that he would contact him as soon as he was out of the meeting. There was absolutely no activity there, so we saw no point in waiting around.Went to Abu-Dis. There were some BPs at the Cliff Hotel and at the old pishpash, but no place else. The area was totally deserted – a ghost town.
