Sheikh Saed, Zeitim CP, The ContainerThursday, 04.01.2007, AMObservers: Yehudith S., Yael L-Y., Ora K. Michaela R. (reporter)Sheikh Saed: 06:45 – Very few people. No children. One of the people passing suggests that people might have taken vacation between the holiday and the weekend. Anyhow, there are seven soldiers in the checkpoint. They have a dog and they take him to explore the village.Zeitim CP (eastern side): 07:50 – We got there via a bumpy steep disrupted road. The unpassable road is humiliation in itself. In front of the external carousel there were about a dozen people. From this side it is more difficult to see what is happenning inside, but we have the impression that passage is quick. Here too there are no school children. As usual people come out holding their belts in their hands. In the shed there are about twenty people waiting for the DCO to open at 08:30. People complain that despite the fact that they have made a list of people waiting, the DCO representative lets people in as he likes it.A man from Abu-Dis tells us that this is the third time he comes in order to get a permit to accompany his wife to the hospital. According to the documents she is invited for Sunday, and since the DCO is not working on Fridays this is his last chance to get a permit. They did not get permission to come by car despite the fact that his wife has difficulties walking. He tells us about his daughter who studied medicine in Aman and Kuwait, and finished her studies is Abu-Dis university. She wants to do internship in Mukased hospital but does not get a permit.Other people complain about not getting magnetic cards. The Container: 08:45 – When we arrived there were two detained taxis going towards Beithlehem, and one towards Al Ezariya. A man was sitting in the detainees’ cell. As the time passed there were more cars detained. When we got out of our car they started to return the documents but a few of the people waiting in one of the taxis were sent to the detainees cell. One taxi was sent to be checked in the hidden area behind the toilets. ID cards were not returned according to the order of arrival, but finally all taxis were released. We left when the last detainees were released.09:50 – A police checkpoint at the exit from Al Ezariya
