Shekh Saed, Abu-dis, Zeitim CP, The ContainerMonday, 25.6.2006,AMObservers: Meira A., Nava A. (reporter)Shekh Saed: 06:10 – A smiling tranquility. Young men with blue IDs succeed in passing in small groups, and are waiting for one another by the old cars that park on the ‘right’ side of the future wall. When asked about today’s rules (concerning blue IDs) the BP man answers “I decide who passes” and then “I let [people] pass, even though it is forbidden”.From there one can turn northwards and get to Ras-el-Amud on the short way, without returning to Jerusalem.Abu-Dis: 07:00 – Very few people are passing quickly to both sides. With no Pishpash (small door in the wall) people pass quite freely through the gate that was formed after they pulled out one of the stones in the wall. The BP men do not interfere.Zeitim CP: 07:30 – Quiet. A few 36 and 63 line taxis are waiting for passengers that arrive seldom. They also say that one has to arrive at 05:30 to see a line of people waiting. The problem is that even when there are many people waiting, they (the authorities) do not open more than one checkpoint. The Container: 08:20 – Taxis are detained both ways. We are told to move away to the sides of the container, as the soldier emphasizes that we interfere in his “job”, while Meira tries to explain that the distance will interfere with her doing her “job”. The soldier won.We understood that there is specific information of some sort and that they are looking for somebody specific. Suddenly a soldier comes and waves to all 15 taxis in line to pass quickly towards Beit-Lehem. He does not even look at the taxis’ direction, in case his suspect is in one of them.
