Abu-Dis, Zeitim CP, Shekh SaedThursday, 29.6.2006, AM (06:30-09:30)Observers: Neta A. Tamar A. (reporter)Guest: Sezineldo from FranceAbu-Dis: 07:00 – Along the road, from the gap between the cement-wall and the stone-wall, and to the Pishpash six BP men sit in pairs on the sidewalk. They are jobless, since no one tries passing here – it got to be more difficult, physically, and probably people “got used” to the fact that they are not allowed to pass.Very few people pass through the Pishpash. The BP men claim at first that we are forbidden to pass to the other side, but finally let us pass. On the other side, too, there are few people. Those who don’t have the right documents do not come anymore.Zeitim CP: 07:45 – Thin traffic. A few transit cars are waiting on the Jerusalem side. A woman-soldier shouts orders in Hebrew through the loudspeaker.Sheikh Saed: 08:40 – The checkpoint is getting more established. The BP got a small hut. Again they do not want us to pass, because “It is the territories there and there is a district commander order that forbids Israelis to enter”. They probably have not heard about the difference between A, B and C areas. A phone call to the regiment commander solves the problem. Some women who came from all over the West Bank try, in vain, to persuade the soldiers to let them pass. The inhabitants of Shekh Saed, on their way to medical check-ups and tests in clinics and hospitals have problems, but they usually pass at last.
