Irtah, Jubara, Anabta, Wednesday AM, 15 Feb. 2006 Observers: Rina Z., Bonnie R., Netty A., and Elisheva E. (reporting)Note: 2 of our members went on to Beit Iba (separate report; see this site under Nablus and vicinity)7.20, Irtah: The laborers have nearly all passed through. A resident of Qalansua, a volunteer, said that he had been waiting a long time for afamily with a baby from Piron who had to get to the hospital at Tel Hashomer [in Israel] where the baby had to have a cardiological examination. The family has all the necessary papers but has to wait until the laborers go through. He asks for our help. We turned (through the fence) to one of the civilian guards who called the captain of the DCO [District Coordination Office of the IDF Civil Administration, that oversees passage permits] who quickly solved the problem.7.40 Jubara: Little activity here, and we went on our way.7.55 Anabta: Many taxis without work. A car which we marked passed within 10 minutes. Residents of Jenin and the surroundings are not allowed to leave. Not exit or entrance to Tulkarm to trucks even those with foodstuffs. The commander says that this is an “order of the hour” and the trucks are sent to Jubara.8.45 Jubara: These same trucks are carefully checked but there are only a few. It seems only those who had important loads had made the detour. Two soldiers make use of the paucity of movement by trying to open the notorious puddle with an iron bar. F. the porter complains that there is an order not to let him through and that after thevisit of a “captain with three stripes.” . We phoned the DCO who saidthey would check. We phoned the DCO back after an hour but they knewnothing of such an order.
