Jalama
Jalama, Tuesday, November 23, 2004, AMObservers: Yocheved G., Chasida S. (reporting)11:15 – 11:45A nice trip, on a pleasant day. Good vision and a gladdening view.Other than that, one innovation: Our feet were dragged yet another step backward. Now we are allowed to stand in the parking lot only. What do they have to hide from us?We were told that there is a partial closure. We understood from that, that there are people who apparently go through the sleeve. They may have crossed earlier, and they might go through it later. At the “luggage terminal” (back-to back, in international passage terminology), it is absolutely empty. An Israeli (not an Arab) who is involved with the sewing workshop in Jalama, wants to go to the village. He was not allowed in, but only after a long waiting period. We guessed that the time was used to conduct negotiations with higher ranks over the phone. Later, we were able to see, from a distance, his vehicle, which crossed the gate into the village and parked, perhaps next to the workshop.

North of Jenin, on the Green Line between Israel and the West Bank. A big terminal for the passage of Palestinians with permits allowing entrance into Israel and goods into Israel operates there. In the course of 2009 the terminal was opened for the passage of Israeli Arabic citizens into the West Bank. Since October 2009 they may pass in their cars.
