The soldier on site tells us that this will continue until September 15. He also says that checkpoint number 250 was dismantled following the withdrawal of the Ganeem and Kadeem settlements.Shaked gate, 07:00 – 07:45 The gate is open. A few children wait by the gate. The man and his donkey go through. The soldiers call the school children in groups of four, directing them to go in front of the soldier who secures the gate and who stands with his rifle at the ready. The flow of passage is brought to a halt periodically when pupils are not allowed through. Most of the students attend the school at Tura and a few high school students go to Ya’abed. Until 7:40 about 45 pupils went through the gate.Barta’a, 07:55 – 09:20 When we arrived we watched the women who work at the Barta’a sewing shop go through. Another 30 pedestrians waited in line for inspection and there were a few cars at the vehicle inspection post. Passage went quietly, most people had the proper permits. One person holding a work permit in Israel tried crossing the gate but was sent to Taibe. We called the Tul Karem District Coordination Office (DCO) on his behalf and it turned out that his permit was past due and he should have gotten a new one in August.Second Lieutenant Z. told us that by the middle of September, after the completion of the removal of the rubble from the settlements of Sa-Nur and Homesh, they would return to Rihan.Detainees: When we came along there was one detainee sitting in the shed. More people were detained and released within a short while. By the end of our shift there were still three bitter detainees.
