Jerusalem
Bethlehem, Al Khadr, Matak Wed, Jan 4,06 AM Observers:Dalia R, Rahel M, reporting, and guest, tourist Steve7:00 am – 9:00 amWe went first to the Bethlehem CP. Neither of us had seen the new situation, and looked with awe at the changes. There was a trickle of pedestrians entering Jerusalem, and no vehicles. At Al Khadr there were many transits, a flow of people in both directions, no BP. We walked in past the humped entrance, and spoke to a few people. They indicated there was nothing new. One man, in his thirties, asked for Sylvia. He said over and over, “Will she be here on Sunday?”There were no flying CP on our way to Ezyon DCO, where we found three men waiting. Two were renewing their magnetic cards, and the third needed a permit to enter Jerusalem for a court hearing. He said that he has a stone cutting business and someone in Israel owes him “a million shekels”. It seemed to take much time, but all three received what they came for. Since no one else entered, and it was very cold, we left.On the way back as we passed Al Khadr, there were BP and jeeps blocking the exit to the main road. Because of traffic we did not stop.
