They have passage permits, but are sent to Irtah (gate No. 700). The people say that they had been there already but were not allowed to pass there either. 07:40 – We went to the gate of the children (No. 22). The gate was closed. The opening hours are between 06:00 – 07:00; 16:00 – 17:00; 12:00 – 13:00. 07:50 – We returned to the entrance to Jubara. Three people, probably illegal workers, are detained. Two other people stand behind the gate and one of them nags the soldiers to be allowed to go to school to Tulkarm. He has no permit, and the soldiers say that this scene repeats itself everyday. A 90year old man wants to enter the village but he has no permit. He is refused. After speaking with the commander and convincing him that he can pose no threat, we saw that the old man was allowed to enter. A worker wants to pass into Israel to work. His boss is asked to come to the CP and only then he is allowed through. 08:00 – We split into two teams. Two of us went up to the CP entrance from Tulkarm. Two agricultural workers missed the opening hour of the agricultural gate, and were refused passage. After talking with the commander, they were allowed to pass. 08:20 – Two armed Israeli civilians roam around the CP and talk with the soldiers. We asked the soldiers as to their function, and were answered that they are “clandestine”. The detainees have been released, in the meantime. Traffic is very sparse. 09:00 – Very few people pass. We leave. 09:05 – A flying roadblock on road No. 60 before Mevo Dotan and a lone officer in a hummer. Quick checking. No delay. We carried on to Beit-Iba.
