Jubara, Monday, 8.8.05, PMObservers: Dorit H., Lee, Ziona S. (reporting)Jubara, 17:00: A huge line of vehicles stretches at the exit from Tulkarm. Yet the inspection is efficient. There is talk of a captured terrorist at the passage. A volunteer from the seam line greets us with a big smile. She is eager to talk with us. It seems that her presence at the CP has a positive effect on the behavior of the soldiers. The female soldier who has been posted here for several weeks behaves extremely gentle. Two photographers – one with an English accent and the other with a French accent – are shooting a film about checkpoints. They are delighted to have met us and bombard us, and the volunteer from the seam line, with questions. We explain to them our perception of the occupation and our role at the checkpoints. The volunteer admits that there are instances where we might have greater influence than she and that we can raise our voice at things that she is not allowed to express.
