Jubara, Ephraim Gate, Anabta, Tuesday, 20.9.05, AMObservers: Shlomit S, Maya M, Maya S, Elinoar B (reporting)06:15 – 07:30, again 09:15-10:00At Ephraim Gate (06:15) most people have already come out. Apparently the gates opened at 04:30, the only complaint today is that only one post is working, which obviously slows down the whole process. In Jubara Abu Hatem invites me to his daughter’s wedding tomorrow to a young man from Beit Lid. One of the regulars is disgusted: the bride is a mere child, he says, not yet 15. No vehicles to be seen on the Tulkarm side.Anabta A shabby barrier has taken the place of the former yellow monster, but it works as efficiently as the other one. The waiting people tell us that there is a permanent IDF checkpoint well within area B. Maya’s father, Uri Savir, one of the architects of the Oslo Agreement, says it is legal. This is the proverbial “Kosher but stinking” case. The regular checkpoints may be a little less crowded, but this is because now all the action takes place within the villages and in distant roadblocks. Out of sight out of mind?
