Morning

Observers: Palestine

| Afternoon

We did not see any soldier. As we arrived we saw a jeep leaving to the opposite side of Beit-El. The were lots of yellow taxis by the side of the road. Although there were no checkpoints, on the way there are two slalom obstacles, like short mountains of earth, whose only purpose seems to be to bother pedestrians and cars. A lot of men complained about soldier’s behavior. They said that yesterday soldiers had crushed their jeep against 5 taxi transits, causing a lot of damage. They showed us the front window of a transit which had been hit by the butt of a gun. A car was standing in the middle of the road with all the doors open. The owner told us that soldiers had taken his ID, license, and keys! and ordered him to leave the car this way and not move, but wait. Other men also told us that soldiers took their IDs and keys and did not say when they will get them back. Of course no explanation is given for the procedures. A young woman said that her ID was taken because the soldiers asked for her name, which is “Palestine”. On our way back to Qalandya there was a long line of southbound cars. The pedestrian line went faster, it took us 10 minutes. On our way back to E-Ram we were told that soldiers were hiding down the road in front of Sunny 2000 to catch people without permits.
