Qalandiya, Monday a.m. 19.03.06Observers: Marit T, Dahlia K (reporting)6:45 Anata: Everything is flowing. Pedestrians and cars are quickly checked and pass. For whatever reason, there is a sense of optimism. Three cab drivers came over and told us that the situation is good now.7:20 Ar-Ram: The line of cars was moving slowly. The time to cross was about 12 minutes. There was a group of soldiers but only one of them was checking the cars. That was too bad. They could easily have been more efficient.8:00 Qalandiya: We went back and forth through the new terminal. The crossing was quick. In our discussion with the taxi drivers and random people in the area, there was a sense of great despair. One of the people even complained about us, that we just stand there and look and don’t do a thing. His friend defended us and we hastened to explain what our role is and the limits of our ability.
