Shaked and Rihan checkpoints, Saturday 17.6.06, a.m. Observers: Sarit,Shula N. (reporting).7:10 – Shaked – At the checkpoint a soldier greeted us, The school children are on vacation, except for those few who are being examined today, apparently a matriculation test on Islam. Some people passed from Tura to the seam line zone with no special problems. it is quiet.we left at 7:30.7:30 – Rihan – Heavy traffic of pedestrians going into the seam line zone, vehicles cross over from the west bank into the seam line area except for one truck loaded with agriculture merchandise. boxes are being unloaded and following the inspection, they are reloaded.A minibus from Barta’a crosses the checkpoint while its passengers walk through. At the car park area by the entrance to the checkpoint there are two cardboards , a make shift like Kiosks where people try to sell coffee and Pita bread with Za’atar. One of the peddlers used to work in a hotel in Tel Aviv and tells us of his difficulties.We also met Nabiel from Barta’a who told us about water problems in east Barta’a.We left at 9:00
