Shaked and Rihan checkpoints, Saturday 15.7.06, a.m.Observers: Dahlia Z. , Rachel H. (reporting)07:30 – 10:00 Shaked – 7:30The gate is open. Four soldiers standing behind concrete shields, with no escorting vehicle.Sparse movement of pedestrians. whoever arrived at the gate, went through.8:00 – The gate closed. we left.Rihan – 08:10 Drivers of the white vans are waiting for workers and complain of the late opening of the gate (07:00 due to the Jewish Sabbath) and of the slow inspection process.We observed mostly at the car park area and inside the walking sleeve.Through out our entire shift there were no more than 3 vehicles (for short periods of time) at the vehicles inspection post. Behind the yellow gate there were about 5-10 people awaiting inspection. Those who were hungry could buy Pita bread at the make shift Kiosk under the shed.We bought coffee from Saeid (whom we saw riding adult’s bicycle). From 9:10 and until 09:55 there was a break . at 09:40 we interrupted, asking the inspector “How much longer”. Her reply was:”Until they’re done”.In general traffic is sparse.There were piles of egg crate piled at th car park area (120 crates. = 3,600 eggs) and no picked it up until we left.Translation: Yael Bassis-Student
