Southren and Western Hebron Hills, Sunday 21.8.05, AMObservers: Hagit B. (Hebrew report) Judy A. (English report)Departure 7:00 Return: 10:30Synopsis – Routine of the occupation – few people visible – little traffic on the roads – as if the area is “dead” with only the roadblocks on the roads – the roadblocks on 60, 35, 356, 317 are new and high – the bulldozers that were in the Wed. report have done their work – Palestinian vehicles can’t enter onto these apartheid roads.Work on the Wall continues – in the eastern area – Yattir forest – and in the western area near Tarkumia village. Next to the settlement – Adura and Telem which will remain inside the fence –serious fence building is going on – expanding the area of the settlement .The Wall itself – it is not exactly on the Green Line on the Western side but is about 2 km on the eastern side of the Green Line.Other construction – at the internal pillbox which is located between Bnei Naim and the eastern gate to road 60, an internal road is being paved with the intention of building another internal road block. We are already hearing occasional complaints from the local residents about the noise made by the soldiers at the pillbox – why is another roadblock necessary? We saw a house occupied by soldiers that is located south of Kiryat Arba on a hill behind the antennas – the truth – not a bad observation point…….On road 317 – between the Karmel and Maon settlements – something new – automobiles that looks like they belonged to the internal security service – following the movement of the settlers? The turn to Sansana – jeep of the border police – Sansana roadblock – no activity – Samua Dahariah – blocked by stones and the gate is closed – Karemia – gate open – Dora El Pawer – random roadblock on road manned by reserve soldiers – Tzomet Hakvishim – increased the height of the dirt and stone mound on the Yitah side – the gate to Hebron was closed – Shayuk Sha’ir – few people crossing – the obstructions to foot traffic were very dense – Humanitarian roadblock – the pillbox is manned – the gate is closed. Halhoul bridge – Hebron – traffic is moving freely – Idna roadblock – soldiers are on the road standing outside two jeeps – left and then returned – Tzomet Ziv – the gate is open – road 356 – the pillbox is manned – Sussiya roadblock – no one there aside from soldiers manning the roadblock – Congo roadblock – same as SussiyaAt the Idna roadblock, we met with the family of M”A from the village of Chirbat Salma. The village sits on the road 6 that according to the road maps links road 354 with road 60 – below the illegal outpost and settlement – Neguhot. Since the beginning of the intifada, they have suffered from the harassment of the illegal settlers. We took their testimony in order to send it to the organization “Yesh Din”. They requested that we come to their village and be guests at the school…….
