I thought she lived in Jiftlik, and that I would be able to give her a lift with all the “booty,” but it turns out that her home is on the side where I cannot go. I asked a Palestinian with a tender to help when he stopped to pass through the checkpoint. He said he would ask the soldiers if it is alright, and would come back to us. I was sure that this was the end of our relationship. To my surprise, he did ask, was answered in the affirmative, returned and we loaded everything, whereupon he and Haniya set off happily.
