גוכיה, חמרה (בקעות), תיאסיר
14:40 Bezek – We drive through.
It is very hot and dry but the view is dazzling.
14:55 Tayasir checkpoint
The soldiers from the Kfir brigade who are posted at the checkpoint ignore our presence. There is little traffic in both directions, mostly taxis driving east and laborers going west. Sometimes the soldiers check the ID cards handed to them through the window and sometimes they return them without checking.
A white Savanna arrives from area A, drives onto the square below the watch tower and parks there.
15:20 – We leave.
15:45 The Alon Route/Road 578–
The dirt barrier blocking the passage from east to west is in its place.
The Gochya gate is open! An army pickup truck is parking nearby. No people are at the gate. The vineyards belonging to the Roi and Bekaot
settlements are full with grapes that are being picked by Palestinian laborers.
15:50 Hamra
A line of 7 cars is waiting to drive through from east to west. They pass rather quickly. Like at Tayasir, the soldiers ignore us until after a while, a sergeant brings us a water bottle. He apologizes for not being able to offer us anything else. We ask about the torn tent where they are hiding from the sun, and he tells us to ask his commanders.
Many small and big vans are driving through. They are full with laborers who greet us with a nod. It's infuriating to think of the hard work they have to do and the tiny salaries that they receive.
16:30 We leave.
The Gochya gate is closed.
16:45 Bezek – When the guard hears that we have been at Tayasir and Hamra he opens the gate.

Located on road 5799, It is one of the checkpoints control the passage between the northern West Bank and the Jordan Valley. For a long time, it stood empty and open, with only a sign next to it warning against entering Area A. It was adjacent to an old military camp - now everything is neglected. How much money was invested here, and how much brainwashing was done to the soldiers of Netzah Yehuda and Kfir.
Today, it is very difficult to pass there. Many delays. Often, teachers from Tubas are not allowed to pass into the Valley to villages like Ein al-Bida where the local schools are located, and there are no classes. There are additional days when the checkpoint is closed. In general, there is a wait there of about two to four hours to go towards the Valley and also to return. Many times the Palestinians are forced to use the Hamra checkpoint, which also leads into Tubas and the West Bank, but there is also a huge queue there and a long wait.
Following a deadly attack on soldiers at the nearby base in February 2025, the checkpoint was completely closed for the time being. (Updated March 2025)
