Qawawis – Violent settler Yehoyariv Shevo beats a Palestinian, who requires hospitalization.
Ahead of the Meitar checkpoint on Route 60, bulldozers are apparently working on widening the road.
Further along, work by an electricity company is adding lines.
Also in Asael, widening work is underway.
In the outpost east of Asael that the IDF ordered to leave a few years ago, we notice a water tank and several people under a shed.
We are in Qawawis, the day after 11.7.26, when the settler Yehoyariv arrived back from the new outpost that was established 48 days ago. Yehoyriv comes from an older outpost called Har Ela Farms, located near Khalet al-Daba’. At 11 am, to remind you that it was Shabbat, a supposed day of rest, Yehoyariv passed with his flock of sheep next to the land of Taleb Jabarin’s family, saw Naim Abu Aram, who was with Taleb on a family visit, and hit him and kicked him in a sensitive area of the stomach, all because Naim was taking pictures of him.
Taleb informed the police who arrived, and the army also joined in. Four soldiers arrived. The police and soldiers took the phones of two activists from Ta’ayush and checked the videos.
An ambulance from Yatta that was called arrived to treat and take the injured Naim. The police demanded that Naim come to submit a testimony in Kiryat Arba, and until now, Sunday afternoon, there is no information about what is happening to him. He has been waiting for hours and has not yet been called for questioning.
I asked that they keep us informed.

We are sitting under a shed and enjoying tea and coffee, and notice , Yehoyariv and his wife coming from the outpost and passing a meter from us, stopping and looking at us.
One of the activists from England who is there doing “protective presence”, takes pictures (attached). After about a minute they continued on their way.
Sometimes they do this several times a day.
I must point out that it is threatening and disturbing, but that is exactly the occupation.
At night, Yehoyariv and his wife sleep in the old farm and the new outpost is staffed by additional settlers.
Taleb and the other family members who come to support say how frightened the family’s children were by the event and in general by the violence and invasion of the settlers for years.
Most of them live in the Palestinian town of Carmil, which can be reached from Qawawis, about 20 minutes away. They don’t have cars (it’s better not to get to a point where it gets stolen by settlers or confiscated by the army).
As always, we brought food, toys for the children and various donations.
***In the evening, we called Taleb to find out what was happening with Naim and were told that Naim only returned at 6:00 PM, after a two-hour interrogation.

Meitar Checkpoint / Sansana The checkpoint is located on the Green Line and serves as a border crossing between Israel and the West Bank. It is managed by the Border Crossing Authority of the Defense Ministry. It is comprised of sections for the transfer of goods as well as a vehicle checkpoint (intended for holders of blue identity cards, foreign nationals or diplomats and international organizations). Passing of Palestinians is prohibited, except for those with entry permits to Israel. Palestinians are permitted to cross on foot only. The crossing has a DCO / DCL / DCL / DCL (District Coordination Office), a customs unit, supervision, and a police unit. In the last year, a breach has been opened in the fence, not far from the crossing. This breach is known to all, including the army. There does not appear to be any interest in blocking it, probably as it permits needed Palestinian workers without the bureaucratic permits to get to work in Israel. Food stalls and a parking area economy have been created, but incidents of violent abuse by border police have also been recorded. Updated April 2022

South Hebron Hills
South Hebron Hills is a large area in the West Bank's southern part.
Yatta is a major city in this area: right in the border zone between the fertile region of Hebron and its surroundings and the desert of the Hebron Hills. Yatta has about 64,000 inhabitants.
The surrounding villages are called Masafer Yatta (Yatta's daughter villages). Their inhabitants subsist on livestock and agriculture. Agriculture is possible only in small plots, especially near streams. Most of the area consists of rocky terraces.Since the beginning of the 1980s, many settlements have been established on the agricultural land cultivated by the Palestinians in the South Hebron Hills region: Carmel, Maon, Susia, Masadot Yehuda, Othniel, and more. Since the settlements were established and Palestinians cultivation areas have been reduced; the residents of the South Hebron Hills have been suffering from harassment by the settlers. Attempts to evict and demolish houses have continued, along with withholding water and electricity. The military and police usually refrain from intervening in violent incidents between settlers and Palestinians do not enforce the law when it comes to the investigation of extensive violent Jewish settlers. The harassment in the South Hebron Hills includes attacking and attempting to burn residential tents, harassing dogs, harming herds, and preventing access to pastures.
There are several checkpoints in the South Hebron Hills, on Routes 317 and 60. In most of them, no military presence is apparent, but rather an array of pillboxes monitor the villages. Roadblocks are frequently set up according to the settlers and the army's needs. These are located at the Zif Junction, the Dura-al Fawwar crossing, and the Sheep Junction at the southern entrance to Hebron.
