Deir Sharaf, Mon 8.6.09, Afternoon

14:45 - Our car approaches the Barrels checkpoint before Deir Sharaf and the stench from the polluted water running in the channel at the side of the road greets us from afar.  A hot summer day.  The soldiers are sitting within their cell at the side of the road, and the vehicles go through with no delay in both directions.  A bus which comes from the direction of Nablus also passes by with no inspection.
