Haris, Kifl Harith, Qira, Shomron Crossing, Mon 11.11.13, Morning
9:45 Passed the Shomron Gate without any problem.
9:55 Turn into road to Kifl Harith. No unusual activity entering the village.
10:00 Arrival to the Women’s Center in Qira. Last week many women were waiting for us. Then there were 16 women. Today we waited 15 minutes. 8 women started at 10:30 and 2 more women arrived later. The women bring their children below 4 years. This is causing a problem of noise and inattention of the mothers. We hope to solve it soon.
11:15 Sally finishes teaching massage and movement. The women had a difficult time concentrating but were very happy to learn different techniques.
11:15 – 12:00 Several women leave and Harriet taught English to 6 students. The subject, visiting a restaurant. Four of the women have excellent reading skills and good speaking skills. Two are beginner learners. The women have requested ways to enlarge their vocabulary. They found that reading a menu and simulating ordering in a restaurant was very helpful.
12:15 Leave Qira travel thru Haris. (Today we did not make a trip to the gates because Sally was not feeling well.) Because we left early, we saw all the many students and their teachers return home from their schools. There is no sidewalk, so everyone was in the street. The 14 and 15 year old boys where eager to say “shalom”.
12:30 An armor covered jeep travelled West, next to us as we passed Barkan.
12:45 A jeep travelling West passed us across from the Palestinian village of Mascha.
12:50 We pass through Shomron gate and were not asked to show our identity cards.
