Bethlehem Checkpoint
At the beginning of the shift there was a long line of Palestinians at the 2 open windows. Shortly afterward another window was opened and passage became swift. Many children passed today. In 3 cases the soldier at the window was in doubt: when it came to passing a woman, Bethlehem resident, who arrived with a passport and visa, and similar cases. The considerate officer in charge of the checkpoint double-checked each case and finally let the people pass. There were no yelling and harassing Palestinians by the soldiers today. Almost an ambiance of real passage between two countries except for the demand to put one's finger on the bio-metric machine, and the carousel that gets stuck and is irritating.
