Afternoon

3:50 PM – When we arrived at Qalandiya, three passageways were operating with a few people in line in each one.  No one was waiting in the DCO passageway, but we could see a large crowd of people in the internal DCO shed clustering around the “carousel” at the entrance to the offices.  Two of the active passageways shut down at 4 PM, but lines remained short as the soldiers in the remaining passageway worked efficiently and not too many people were arriving at the CP.

We noticed that an unusually large portion of the people crossing the CP into Jerusalem were residents of Gaza on their way home, some of whom had just been released from hospital and were walking around with bandages.  Family members who live on the West Bank accompanied them to the CP, parting at the turnstiles.
