Cold and dirty. The long walk from the small parking lot to the checkpoint is strewn with bottles, candy wrappers, plastic bags, etc. School children are on winter break. We try to call local activists to hear about the postponed discussion regarding the garbage on the margins of the neighbourhood, but the phones are disconnected. Vehicular traffic at the checkpoint flows. We decide to return next week.
In the lot outside the checkpoint, large grey chunks, waiting their turn to join the wall, are strewn. I remember an intention to build a post office, and other benefits for the citizens, but nothing has happened.

The paved road at the checkpoint -- never used -- is no longer there (see photo). It seems some other "upgrade" is awaiting. Luckily, there's plenty of money to build, to discard, to destroy, to build something else...
