Morning

Qira, Deir Istiya,

The weekly activities with the women in Kafr Qira were renewed after an interruption of several months because of the war during the summer.

10:00  Qira

More than 15 women waited in the club.  The meeting was emotional after we hadn’t met with them for a long time.

It was very cold and we danced together to warm up.  With music, for the first time.  I brought music on a tablet, with speakers, because there’s no electricity in the club.

Then an art activity with Michal – origami.

12:30  Deir Istiya

The exit from the village to the road to Emanuel is blocked.  The soldiers said it was because the residents threw stones, so the road was closed.  They placed large boulders and sand, as if a bulldozer had simply dropped them there.

The residents deny stones were thrown, and a taxi driver who passed said that the army made it all up to close off the village.  This exit is a small side road where the residents are constructing an attractive archway.  That’s the road the army closed.  Now the only way to enter and leave the village is via Kifl Harith.

Michal’s report:

Sally-Ann and I were in Qira.  Morning exercises accompanied by music from the ‘70s, plus dance movements.  It was wonderful.  Everyone participated.  About 15 younger and older women.  Great!  Then we made origami cranes.  There was a table, not very large, but enough for the women who didn’t give up and some girls who did lovely work.  A delight to the eyes and the soul…  They enjoyed themselves very much, and so did we..
