Sawahira ash Sharkiya, Sheikh Saed
Sheikh Saed, Sawahrah checkpoint, A-tur
We reached Sheikh Saed around 6:30. We stood above the checkpoint in the blocked entry road to the neighbourhood -- the only point from which we still have a reasonable view.
People enter the checking room one by one. The line was not long, and proceeded quietly. The first of the pupils also entered in an orderly fashion.
A contingent of security personnel, accompanied by the guard from a private company came up to us and demanded we move away "for our own safety". We claimed that this is where we always stand, and that it is they who change the conditions. A B.P. officer, A. who claimed to be in charge of the zone, was unable to name the person who is supposed to approve of our presence. We had no choice but to leave.
Swahrah
At the Sawahrah checkpoint, traffic was very sparse. Pupils were also very few.
A-Tur
A-Tur was very quiet, no presence of security forces. We saw no evidence of the torching of a police van reported last night. Schools were not yet open, and there were no children in the street.
