Morning

Qalqiliya checkpoint

06:25-06:40 - The vehicles, not too many today, are checked quickly  - IDs, sometimes the boot of the car. A group of schoolchildren hail us cheerfully in Hebrew. They go to school in Israel  -  some in Um Al Fahem, some in Jaljouliya. Why do they go to school in Israel? "This is what mother wants".

Azzun  - The Rd. 55 exit

06:50  -  Reserve soldiers man the entrance to the village, which is blocked with concrete barriers. The captain says the other exits are open. The harassment this village undergoes continually is due to the fact that "unlike the neighboring villages here the children throw stones". Workers waiting nearby confirm the fact that the other exits are open.

Jit

The junction is unmanned.

Anabta

09:00-09:20 (back from Beit Iba)  - Sparse traffic both going in and going out of Tulkarm. Despite the changing of the shifts and the drill following it (soldiers running on the hills with pointed guns) the checking is not stopped.

Jubara & A-Ras

09:20-10:00  - Following a short visit at Abu Hatem's we went down to A-Ras. In the short time we spent there only one car passed on its way to Qalqiliya. The red sign forbidding Israeli citizens to pass is gone.
