Border policemen set up a secondary barricade about 40 meters from the gas station so that cars wanting to head toward Jerusalem had to go up the hill and go by an alternate route. There were about 15 detaineesinfo-icon being held along the barricade who were released just as we got there. Relatively sparse pedestrian traffic passing through the mosque, (where the improvised passage was somewhat improved) and only about 4 transits on the other side. At one point, several border policemen charged down one of the side streets to intercept workers who were evading the checkpoint, but after checking their id's, allowed them to leave. Later on, more people were detained, but their id's were quickly recorded and they too were let go.As we left, the secondary barricade was dismantled.
