Abu dis, Sawahre Wednesday PM, 1.12.04.Observers: TB., LS., DG (reporting).Abu Dis – The “Gate – 15:00: Things are practically the same – people climbing over the broken wall to and from the monastery garden. No BP, though we were told they had been there earlier. The regular traffic jam of transits has returned to the scene.Sawahre – 15:30: About twenty vehicles southbound and quite a few in line in the opposite direction but it takes no more than 5 minutes and the lines are reduced to 4-5 cars each. No detaineesinfo-icon. People pile out of transits arriving from Abu Dis and queue up behind a singe operating turnstile. The soldier’s inspection of IDs is swift, some are not checked at all but just waved through. However, the soldier insists on the people’s approaching him one by one and at times is quite rude about it, sending them back if they do not abide. On the side, a soldier is sitting in a large ominous vehicle with the motor constantly running. When asked, he claims he is just waiting for someone and that the motor has to be kept going for a reason he does not disclose. On the other far side, the dog, coached by the soldier girls, is sniffing the inside of a taxi which is released shortly after.Ma'ale Adomim junction – 16:30: A jeep and BP soldiers are hailing transits on their way to Al Ezariya, making them wait for 15 minutes, on the average, till the IDs of the younger passengers are checked with the GSS. An older man says that this CP is particularly active in the mornings, and that waiting time then is much longer, usually more than an hour.
